DP&L's Gift of Power Will Help Local Families Stay Warm During Winter Months

November 12, 2015

DAYTON, Ohio – November 4, 2019 – The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), begins the fifth year of the Gift of Power program to lend a hand to those needing assistance paying their winter heating bills. Our contribution of $165,000 along with generous donations from DP&L customers and our employees keeps the power on for families, friends and neighbors throughout our 24-county service territory. All donations are administered by The Salvation Army and every dollar stays local.

Since 2015, contributions totaling nearly one million dollars have provided financial relief to more than 2,000 local families. “Anyone can get behind on their bills when the unexpected happens making it difficult to stay current. For DP&L, being a good community partner is who we are, and we recognize the winter months in Ohio are unpredictable. Through the Gift of Power, we can help our neighbors keep their homes warm and the lights on during the coldest months of the year. Sincere thanks to our employees, customers, and community, as we assist those in need on a path back to self-sufficiency,” said Vince Parisi, DP&L President and CEO.

The Gift of Power program helps DP&L customers who have recently suffered a financial hardship, such as the loss of a spouse, loss of a job or major medical bills, but are just above the income guidelines for other Ohio Energy Assistance programs. The distribution of program funds begins the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20, 2020) and runs through April 15, 2020 or until funds are exhausted.

DP&L customers have the opportunity to help by completing the special donation envelope in their monthly bill or donating online at dpandl.com/gift
