Dayton Power and Light reminds customers to call 811 before you dig
April 4, 2019
DAYTON, Ohio – April 4, 2019 – The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), April is National Safe Digging Month and DP&L reminds all customers the importance of digging in a safe, responsible way. Whether your project involves construction or planting or tree, put safety first and be sure to call 8-1-1 at least 2 days ahead of your scheduled start.
With warmer days ahead, are you planning outdoor improvement projects or yard work?
To ensure safety, you want to be sure you know where electrical, gas and other utility lines are located on your property. Not only will doing so avoid headaches and make your job easier, but you steer clear of potential utility outages, repair costs, and serious injuries.
By simply calling 8-1-1, you can notify Ohio’s one-call notification systems. The Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) coordinates with local utilities to have underground lines marked, so you know ahead of time where it is safe to dig. Now, customers can also enter dig requests online with the OHIO811 e-dig ticket system. Submitting a ticket is as easy as entering your home’s location and a valid email address online here.
OUPS will mark the location of underground utility lines for you. If you do not complete your digging or construction project within 10 business days after the initial marking, you will need to call back to have the utility lines remarked for verification.
