March 18, 2025
AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), announced the company is partnering with the University of Dayton for the fourth consecutive year to power all NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First Four® practices and games with renewable energy.
Aligned with the company’s mission to accelerate the future of energy, AES Ohio will purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) and apply them toward increased energy usage at the University of Dayton Arena facilities for pre-game events, practices and First Four games. Renewable energy is generated from naturally replenishable resources such as solar, wind, water, and geothermal heat offering sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels, while responsibly managing natural resources like forests and water.
“The Dayton Region boasts America’s most devoted college basketball fans. AES Ohio is pleased to provide safe, reliable and environmentally friendly energy to power the First Four games,” stated Tom Raga, President of AES Ohio. “For more than a decade, we have collaborated with local organizers to ensure this week’s experience is welcoming for attendees.”
AES Ohio has delivered safe, reliable and affordable energy to its customers for over a century. The company is transitioning to a more sustainable energy future through significant investments to modernize the grid. Modernization involves upgrading the physical infrastructure of the electric grid, including transmission lines, substations and distribution systems and integrating digital technologies. The goal is to improve grid efficiency by utilizing sensors, smart meters and two-way communication devices to monitor performance and resolve issues.
