AES Ohio offers winter payment assistance through the Gift of Power

- Annually, AES Ohio, its employees, and customers generously donate to assist families with their winter heating bills.
- For nearly a decade, the program has distributed $1.4 million in financial relief to more than 4,000 local families.
Today, AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE:AES), begins its tenth year of the Gift of Power program providing emergency relief funding to customers are struggling to pay their winter heating bills. Anyone can get behind when the unexpected happens. The loss of a job, the death of a spouse, major medical bills or other financial hardships making it difficult to stay current with your bills. During last year’s winter heating season, $80,000 was distributed to 380 local families in need of assistance.
The program began ten years ago after AES customers asked our call center how they could help their neighbors. Since then, customers have generously contributed each year. The Gift of Power program is targeted at helping those who don’t qualify for traditional assistance programs by providing one-time assistance to overcome a financial hardship. Our partner, the Salvation Army, provides administration and support. AES Ohio customers have the power to help by filling out special donation envelope included in their monthly bill or donating online at aes-ohio.com/gift.
“AES Ohio is dedicated to assisting all customers and recognizes the difficulties during the winter months when energy bills tend to rise as temperatures fall,” stated Tom Raga, President of AES Ohio. “The Gift of Power fund assists families and neighbors in need, helping them avoid choosing between maintaining a warm home and other essential needs. We sincerely appreciate the numerous customers and employees who contribute each year, making a meaningful impact for hundreds of families across the Miami Valley.”
Last year’s donations by AES Ohio customers and employees totaled $86,000. The Company adds $50,000 to help warm the hearts and homes of families, friends and neighbors throughout our 24-county service area. All funds remain within the local communities we serve and are administered by the Salvation Army.
The Gift of Power aids AES Ohio customers who have faced recent financial challenges but do not qualify for other Ohio Energy Assistance programs. The application period begins January 21, 2025, and continues until April 15, 2025.
